Traders disagree with govt over ‘inciting’ broadcast

The Kantin Kwari Market Traders Association has dismissed government’s claim that Freedom Radio  incited the traders against the government, saying the radio station only helped in mobilising people and corporate bodies to put out the fire.

Sequel to the broadcast station’s live update on the fire incident, Kano State Governor Ibrahim Shekarau criticized Freedom Radio for “instigating the traders” against government rather than sympathising with the victims.

Speaking with our correspondent yesterday in Kano, the Chairman of the market association Ahaji Kabiru Sarki Sagagi said the radio station should be commended for airing the update and calling on people to help in putting out the fire.
