Fire incident: House delegation to visit Kano

ShareThe House of Representatives yesterday constituted a seven-member delegation to visit Kano State and commiserate with the state government over the recent fire incident in Kantin Kwari textile market.

The members are Reps Patricia Etteh,Abdul Ningi,Overah Joyce,Bala Bantex,Gilbert Nnaji,Buba Jibrin and Ibrahim Kamba.The lawmakers in a motion sponsored by Rep Danlami Hamza (ANPP, Kano State) also urged the Federal and state governments to assist the victims.

Leading the debate, Hamza said the victims needed to be supported to re- start their businesses.According to him, the market was famous for textiles   not only in Nigeria, but in Africa.

Rep Ubale Jakada Kiru (ANPP, Kano State) said over 8000 shops were burnt  in the incident, adding that the motion came at the right time. He commended the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA)  the Kano State Fire Service and the state government for their prompt response.

The House unanimously adopted the resolutions.
