SharePresident Goodluck Jonathan has identified armed robbery and kidnapping as the greatest challenges facing the Igbo nation, particularly the people of the South East. The President stated this yesterday in Owerri during the public presentation of a book titled “Themes on Igbo Culture, History and Development,” organized by the South East Council of Traditional Rulers. “When you think about issues of armed robbery and kidnapping, the Igbo nation, particularly the South East feature more than any other areas in the country”, the President noted. President Jonathan, represented at the event by the Minister of Interior, Captain Emma Iheanacho, pointed out that the South East was once an area that was known for its egalitarianism and progressive development. He said that the unfortunate thing is that some of the perpetrators of these crimes live with the people without efforts to stop theses inimical acts.
He assured the commitment of his administration to secure every part of the country to ensure all families and homes live without fear of molestation.
