Sudan deports 200 Nigerians

ShareNearly two hundred Nigerians were deported through Kano by the Sudanese authorities at the weekend.Daily Trust learnt that the authorities raided the settlements of the immigrants about two months ago and deported them to Nigeria without prosecuting them.The deportees who arrived through Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) said they were subjected to inhuman treatment before their subsequent deportation.
One of them, Malam Isyaku, noted that they were picked up in a mass raid. According to him, the Sudanese authorities beat them up and dispossessed them of their belongings.“We are stranded here and we don’t have where to go now. All our belongings and personal effects were seized in Sudan. We spent about 50 days in detention before they dumped us here,” said Isyaku. Another deportee who identified himself as Nuraddeen said immigrants from other countries were saved from maltreatment by their governments. Another one, Abdallah Umar, said most of them had been in the country for over a decade and lived peacefully with citizens of that country.
