FUMAN reiterates support for NFF

THE National Organising Secretary of FUMAN, Alhaji Baby Barrister, has urged corporate bodies and the media to ignore event organisers who besiege them with proposals on Fuji events that does not have the national body’s support.

Wondering where these outfits were when fuji musicians worked tirelessly for years to unite their members, Baby said it was “deceptive and insulting “for event companies to solicit support for an event that FUMAN’s consent has not been sought.

“Sometime ago, somebody held a music festival without our consent. We obliged the man because he had already gone behind our back to pay some of our members for the event.

“Because those members are elders and respected members of the body, and because they didn’t know that we had contracted an outfit to package a festival for us, we didn’t stop them from performing, but we made it clear that the event didn’t have the backing of FUMAN.

“Recently, some outfits have been going out again soliciting support for a fuji event that we are not aware of. Well, I don’t have the final say on this, but I know that Naija Fuji Fiesta is the only fuji festival that the NEC and NWC of FUMAN is expressly supporting.

“We held its inauguration sometime in April. Alhaji Kollington, K1, Barrister were represented, while PMAN President, Dele Biodun, ex-pman president, Bolaji Rosiji, Wasiu Alabi Pasuma and FUMAN executive members, including  our national president, Alhaji Saka Orobo, myself, Alhaji Yaya Daniya, Alhaji Fanci Alamu attended.

“We also met will the BOT members in Alhaji Kollington’s house with Alhaji Sawaba and other BOT members in attendance, where Barrister gave his support for NFF.

“To avoid diversion of attention, I think it is necessary to let stakeholders know that for now, we are only for the NFF, which will hold anytime  next year”.

Asked when Orobo would be back in Nigeria, he said his boss was taking his time considering proposals on activities that could see fuji musicians performing in Canada often.

“He has gone for serious business on hehalf of FUMAN, but he’ll be back on time for the festival”.
