FUMAN endorses NFF

AFTER a six-week tour of Canada, the national president of FUMAN, Alhaji Saka Orobo, has returned to the country and has re-affirmed the executive body’s commitment to the proposed Naija Fuji Fiesta scheduled for next year.

Orobo, who claimed to have been inundated with calls from fuji musicians and fans on his successful tour, told RMT  that “it was not only to greet him that fuji stakeholders had called, but they also wanted to know our stand on the proliferation of fuji festivals that are being planned by unknown event outfits, and our stand is that Naija Fuji Fiesta is the only fuji music event that has FUMAN’s support. Period.

“Whoever supports any other fuji event right now will be throwing away his money as such will be boycotted by fuji musicians.

“A company approached us early this year with a proposal and our NEC and NWC held meetings for months to finally approve the proposal. That move is enough respect to all fuji musicians.

“But if you think because you have a relationship with one of our members and you want to exploit it without regards to FUMAN, of course we will let you know that the union is more powerful than any individual.

“We have held an unveiling months ago and from what I have gathered, a series of courtesy calls are been arranged right now.  All these are to ensure a successful fiesta.  The organiser is always carrying us along,” he informed.

On his tour, he expressed gratitude to Nigerians in Canada for the warm reception and impressive turnout to the series of shows he held in Ottawa and Montreal.

“Nigerians are a friendly lot, it was great performing to them in Canada.  The tour was an eye-opener, it made me see the love and respect that our people have for Nigerian musicians.  I plan to go back after a while, FUMAN is set to sign an agreement with an entertainment outfit on the hosting of fuji musicians regularly in that country,” he added.
