The House of Representatives has asked the
National Sports Commission and the Nigeria Football Federation to
appear before it to explain the Super Eagles‘ poor performance at the
World Cup.
Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on
Sports Gbenga Elegbeleye told KickOffNigeria.com that the House needed
both bodies to account for the monies appropriated for the tournament.
“Nigerians
are not happy at the performance of the team in South Africa and we
need to give them an explanation,” KickOffNigeria.com quoted Elegebleye
as saying on Monday.
”And we need them to account for the
money that was appropriated to them for the World Cup since the team
were eliminated in the first round.”
A total of N900m was allegedly appropriated for Nigeria‘s participation at the World Cup.
It was learnt that the Sports Minister Ibrahim Bio and NFF President Sani Lulu are to appear before the House this week.
