The ill-fated outing of Nigeria’s Super Eagle at the on-going FIFA World Cup has been said to have got a spiritual undertone to it going by what an Ibadan-based cleric, Samuel Olanrewaju, is claiming.

In his sermon during the Thanksgiving Service of a former member of Super Eagles, Seyi Olofinjana, during the week, said he had warned the team against bad luck. The cleric affirmed that God had revealed to him that Eagles will not have a good outing in South Africa but he however advised people at the helms of Nigerian football to be prayerful and seek for God’s forgiveness.

Olofinjana was having the special service to give thanks to God for God’s protection and guidance over his life in the church where he was ordained as evangelist some months ago.

The English Premiership player who joined Stoke City in 2008 in a £3 million four-year deal after switching to Hull City the following year, in a chat with newsmen after the church service, expressed no regret for not being part of Lars Largerback’s team that made it to the on-going World Cup.
