Siasia: Nobody has contacted me to coach Eagles

ShareFormer Flying Eagles and National U-23 handler, Coach Samson Siasia said he has not been contacted by the Nigeria Football Federation or any other person to coach the Super Eagles.
As current Eagles manager Lars Lagerback foot drags on the contract extension recently handed him by authorities of the NFF, speculations are rife in high places that the former international will be handed the job, once the Swede decides to quit.
Lagerback’s Eagles could not qualify for the next round of the 2010 World Cup having lost 1-0 to Argentina, 1-2 to Greece before drawing 2-2 with South Korea, a performance which has been condemned by most Nigerian football fans.
However, moments after the Eagles were bundled out of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, NFF president, Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi expressed satisfaction with Lagerback’s performance and said he would be happy to see the Swede remain in charge of the national team.
Despite the presidential endorsement, Lagerback said he would not accept the kind gesture until he consults with members of his family.
Speaking with Trustsports on phone yesterday, Siasia said talking about Eagles job is too early as nobody has contacted him.
He said anytime he is contacted by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, and such is made public by the relevant authorities, it would be the most appropriate time to make comments.
“I have not been contacted by the Nigeria Football Federation or any other person. Therefore, I can only say that it is too early for me to talk about coaching the Super Eagles. When the time comes and it is made public that will be the right time to make comments”, he stated.
Siasia who scored for Nigeria at the 1994 World Cup in the USA said anytime he is called upon to serve the country, he will not hesitate to answer such national call once the conditions are acceptable by him.
