I’m not interested in NFF job – Amiesimaka

ShareFormer Green Eagles winger Adokiye Amiesimaka
has said he is not interested in serving as a board member of the
Nigerian Football Federation under the current dispensation.
Amiesimaka
was speaking against the backdrop of calls for him and Oscar Igbokwe,
owner of Bussdor FC of Port Harcourt, to contest the NFF election.
He
told the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Port Harcourt that he had
received several calls urging him to contest as an NFF board member.
Amiesimaka said the NFF was seriously politicised.
“The sports minister has statutory powers under Section 19 of the NFF Act to control the board of the NFF.
“What
that means is that our football administration is seriously
politicised. There is too much politicisation of football than
professionalisation.
“We need an NFF that is structured
to be development-oriented and to be accountable. These two things are
missing. The NFF now is not accountable,’’ Amiesimaka, a lawyer, said.
The 1980 African Nations Cup winner said the country‘s football was still competition-based and that the NFF needed structural adjustment and not change of persons.
