Heads of State to grace final

ShareFourteen heads of state are billed to attend the closing ceremony of the 19th World Cup.
The
South African Department of International Relations and Cooperation
said on Thursday that more heads of state could still confirm their
presence final at the magnificent Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg
on Sunday.
Spokesman for the department, Saul Molobi,
said that King Letsie 111 of Lesotho, King Mswati of Swaziland,
President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe, Kenyan President, Mwai Kibaki,
Mozambican President, Amando Geobuza, Gabonese President, Ali Bongo
Ondimba, and Comoros President, Ahmed Sambi, had confirmed their
attendance.
He said the presidents of Ghana, Togo,
Malawi, Burundi, Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea and Djibouti are also
expected to grace the occasion.
Meanwhile the Local
Organising Committee also on Thursday confirmed that Colombian music
superstar, Shakira, would be at the stadium to sing the World Cup
anthem Waka Waka.
The closing ceremony will be broadcast to over 500million audience.
”While
the opening ceremony was more traditional in other to do justice to
African heritage, the closing ceremony will have contemporary and
youthful themes. It takes place at night and so you can expect plenty
of dramatic lighting and special effects,” LOC‘s Darek Catstens said on
Thursday.
