ShareThe President of the Federation International
Football Association, Sepp Blatter, has commended South Africa for
successfully hosting the World Cup.
Blatter said he was not surprised by the achievements of South Africa at the tournament.
According to the Swiss, it is not possible to judge South Africa 2010 in comparison to others, but described it as ”special”.
He said, ”I have always believed that there are good things all over the world if we work hard to achieve our objectives.
”It was a World Cup on a new continent with a new culture and therefore
it must be analysed on different levels, but if you look at the
enthusiasm in Africa and also the repercussion in the world, if you
look to the television audiences around the world, if you look to the
fan-fests everywhere in the world then I have to say it was a special
World Cup.
”This World Cup has been wonderful and I hope
Africans are proud of this event. Everything has gone very well and I
am personally not surprised because I know Africa can do it.
”We have witnessed good organisation and good arrangements, good facilities and we are happy about it all.”
The FIFA Boss said world body had been vindicated for its decision to stage all its competitions in Africa.
”We
held all our events here and this last one is also great. Egypt,
Nigeria also hosted (other of our tournaments) successfully and now
South Africa. This is good for the continent,” he stressed.
