12 teams for U-17 volley tourney

ShareTwelve teams are expected to feature in the Zone
IV U-17 Inter-Club Volleyball Championships for boys and girls scheduled
for August 5 to 8 in Maiduguri.
Alhaji Bode Durotoye,
Coordinator, National Sports Commission, Zone IV, told the News Agency
of Nigeria on Wednesday in Maiduguri that the event would hold at the
Elkanemi Warriors Sports Centre.
Durotoye said that male
and female clubs from Adamawa, Taraba, Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe and hosts
Borno have confirmed their participation in the championships.
“We are expecting both male and female teams from all the states in the zone to participate in the tournament,‘‘ he said.
Durotoye said that the competition was part of the NSC‘s renewed efforts at ensuring talent hunt at the grassroots.
“Essentially, it is packaged as part of our drive to tap hidden talents at the grassroots.
“We expect that these new talents will form the bulk of our future teams in the country,‘‘ he said.
