Two-time coach of the Super Eagles, Adegboye Onigbinde, and former international Henry Nwosu on Sunday commended the Falconets for booking a place in the semifinals of the U-20 Women‘s World Cup in Germany.

Speaking with the Onigbinde described the 4-2 penalty win as a relief to Nigerian soccer fans, who had gone through harrowing times recently following the poor performances of the Super Eagles.

“The achievement is commendable. The victory is a big relief after the Super Eagles poor outing at the South Africa 2010 World Cup,’’ he said

The FIFA/CAF instructor advised the team to work harder to bring the trophy to Nigeria.

Although Onigbinde said he did not know the size of the purse of the Nigeria Football Federation at the moment, he canvassed for bigger allowances to further motivatethe players.

Nwosu applauded the Falconets for breaking the quarterfinal jinx since 2002.

The former Asec Mimosa of Cote d’Ivoire star urged Nigerians and the NFF to continue to support the team.

Nwosu, however, cautioned against increased monetary reward for the team to prevent distraction.

“Although I believe the players should be encouraged, we should be careful not to make an issue out of it to prevent distraction.

“It should be a step-by-step thing. They should put in their best in the remaining matches first and wait for what follows.
