Written by This Day Friday, 02 July 2010
ShareReinstated Bauchi state Deputy Governor, Muhammad Garba Gadi, has dragged the state government to court for disobeying the Court Order reinstating him when he was denied entrance into the Deputy Governor’s Office on Tuesday.
Counsel to Garba Gadi, Barrister Ado Dauda, told our correspondent on phone that his client had filled Form 48 at High Court 4, the same court that ordered for reinstatement of Gadi, ‘which is a notice of consequence to disobedience of a court order. The state government has committed contempt of court by not complying with the order when Gadi was denied access to his office.’
It will be recalled that Garba Gadi was turned back by the police when he reported for work at the Deputy Governor’s office for a second day on Tuesday.
Our correspondent reports that Babayo Garba Gamawa is still being referred to as the state Deputy Governor at government circles including the state owned media and he is still attending functions in that capacity despite the court order that asked him to vacate the office.
When our correspondent called the counsel to the defendants, Barrister Muktar Abubakar, he found his telephone switched off and when he called the SSA Media to the Governor, Sanusi Mohammed, he promised to make the necessary inquires but later switched off his phone.
Neither Gadi nor Garba Gamawa attended the Deputy Governor’s office on Wednesday and Thursday which remained deserted.
The
Appeal Court in Jos where the state government filed for an appeal as
well as a stay of execution on the judgment that reinstated Gadi will
listen to the case this Friday.
