Ibom Tropicana: Akpabio’s emerging tourism wonder

IN every nation of the world the issue of tourism is of great value; it cannot be underemphasised, because it is regarded as a veritable avenue for economic gains. Tourism facilities have distinctive features which make them basically attractive, unique and special to tourists.
Either natural or man-made, tourism is an avenue for promoting economic activities, maximum relaxation, entertainment, job creation and income generation.
These were the plights of Governor Godswill Akpabio who initiated Ibom Tropicana Project, not only to bring a new lease of live to the people, but also to open the state to the world.
The most significant attribute of the centre is the economic value it will add to the life of the Akwa Ibom people viz-a-viz the creation of over 5,000 jobs for its citizens, thus drastically reducing unemployment and also keeping thousands of people off the streets.
However, this infrastructural development, does not only promote tourism activities, but also generates employment and revenue to better the lives of citizens of the state. And at present, with the level of work ongoing at the site no fewer than 1,000 indigenes of Akwa Ibom are engaged in one opening or the other
The five-star hotel
A Five-Star hotel with 250 bedrooms is of international standard and can serve as an hospitality concern for people within and outside the state.
It is expected that this hotel will be popular beyond the state, thereby inviting patronage from outside the state. The Godswill Akpabio’s led administration wants to project this five-star- hotel alongside that of Ibom Le-Meridian and Golf Resort hotels thereby making Akwa Ibom a state with reputable hospitability facilities. With another hotel of international standard in place, one can say Akwa Ibom is a home away from home.
Cineplex
Also a galleria with multiple cinema halls has raised Ibom Tropicana above Silver birds Galleria in Lagos and Abuja. The six halls Cineplex affords the opportunity of watching movies meant for cinemas in Akwa Ibom instead of going to Lagos, Abuja or Port Harcourt. The question is, why go outside to catch fun when you can maximally be entertained here courtesy of Dr. Akpabio’s who has turned the state capital into an entertainment city like Hollywood.
Parking lots
For car owners the issue of space is nothing to worry about, because the international themed park is spacious while it is a beauty to behold. The artistic waterfall which is placed strategically at the entrance of the complex, serves as a warm welcome to the arena. There are no fears about security as arrangement is in place to nip in the bud the activities of the people of the underworld.
The Dome
Distinctive feature of this project is the 10,000 capacity dome or conference centre, that is doubt innovative and attractive that will generate both local and international traffic to Akwa Ibom State.
Mini Disney
Another distinctive feature is its complimentary services with a mini Disney for kids and teenagers for maximum fun and enjoyment. With this, several children will flock around the Tropicana arena during weekends and holidays. Instead of dreaming of going to Lagos and Abuja before catching such fun.
It is obvious that the shopping mall will witness high patronage by the indigenes and visitors to the state. Products availability is not only the plus of the mall but affordability.
