ASA, 9ice, and Seun Kuti are among those listed to perform at the proposed “A Taste of Lagos In Florida” concert, a project put together by Chief Nathaniel Styles Olosun.
The concert will promote Nigeria’s culture and image abroad, asserts Styles, brain behind African Caribbean Cultural Arts Corridor(ACCAC).
For their contributions to the promotion of African music via Afro beat, Afro jazz and traditional, the trio are hot on the radar of Chief Styles as he shops around for support in Lagos and Abuja for the hosting of the maiden edition of the event in Miami, United States, at a later date.
Desirous of tapping into the $166b business, Chief Styles is convinced “beyond doubt that Nigeria stands to gain a lot if we promote our cultural values as a people.
“I am happy to receive the support of many Nigerians on this project, its exciting. Even the federal government, through the culture and tourism ministry, have been supportive. I know the project will be a success,” adds styles.
Styles, Executive Director of the ACCAC, a project of Community Builders HDC in Florida, an NGO facilitating sustainable global culturally based projects along with artist in residence, Prince Emmanuel Abiodun Aderele, a Nigerian and Hollywood, California celebrity-based photographer, Jeremy Paul Oversier, were recently received in Abuja by the Honorouble Minister of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation.
The Minister was pleased with the information shared regarding the designation of a 43 City Block ACCAC.
Chief also envisions a Nigeria House located within the corridor which will serve as a repository of the finest tangible and intangible cultural assets that Nigeria possesses.
Styles appealed to Ufot to collaborate with his ACCAC initiative. This collaboration will allow Nigeria an opportunity to tap into the multi billion dollars Miami Dade County generates in tourism. I see ongoing festivals within the ACCAC in Miami showcasing the absolute finest Nigeria has to offer to a captive international tourist audience” said Styles.
He envisions international versions of Nigeria's finest festivals such as Osun-Osogbo Festival, Lagos States' Eyo and Olokun Festivals hosted in Miami, Florida.
